I was commissioned last month to take some aerial photography around London
and the airports in the South East of England, Heathrow, Stanstead, Luton
and Gatwick.
Shooting aerial views around large international airports can be quite a
tricky task as obviously the last thing a controller in charge of getting
aircraft taking off and landing wants, is to have to think about yet another
aircraft buzzing round the area.
We managed to gain permission to shoot aerial photographs of all but one
location, that being right on the very edge of the field at Heathrow in the
flight path of the departing aircraft.
I chose to shoot the images from a twin engined squirrel as then we could
fly in and out of the Heathrow exclusion zone with no problem.
The images here are an overview of the City of London ( Square Mile), an
aerial view of Gatwick and a close up aerial view of the terminal at
Stanstead.
